Social Design Ideas
I have been thinkin hard about our Social Design Project and just wanted to throw some ideas out there. For our first project I have narrowed my topic to recycling. The awarness and the actual doing of recycling. I was thinking of starting a blog regarding recycling where people could go on and post things to do with recycling, like where to take you your recycling, or where to buy things that are recycled and more. Also was thinking... Getting and decorating Tote Bags and passing them out and asking people to use the Tote bags instead of plastic bags... This is a work in progress. I have more ideas to come.

Did you read in "Cradle to Cradle" about "upcycling"? Maybe you should do something where people decorate their own bags. That way there would be more social interaction and the people would wind up with a bag that they really love, and are therefor more likly to use.
Liz, can you give a page number?
No. I think it's mentioned more than once.
Mariam,
I saw some bags made out of old sails from sailboats recently which yields regionality, recycling, and style/aesthetics.
My favorite local coffee bean roaster, Zeke's had bags made out of the bags the beans come to them in- graphically put together.
At the Farmer's Market this Saturday, I thought about starting a collection of these kind of bags. There are lots of great ones out there. Do some research...how wil yours differ?
Trader Joe's and Giant now are both selling reusable bags for a dollar each with some great designs ill post some pictures. You may want to check them out for ideas. Hope this helps.
